Hypnotherapy for Fears and Phobias*

Anyone who suffers from a fear or phobia will know that their fears and phobias are not rational. Unfortunately this makes absolutely no difference to how they feel. They are powerless when faced with the subject of their fear or phobia and will suffer from a variety of associated unpleasant symptoms which include, sweating, breathlessness, anxiety, panic, fear, negative behaviour and so on.

Common fears and phobias

The list of things that one can have a fear or phobia about is never ending.

Here are some examples:

  • Flying
  • Dentist
  • Needles
  • Insects
  • Spiders
  • Buttons
  • Public speaking
  • Vomiting
  • Heights
  • Agoraphobia
  • Claustrophobia

How can I help you?

By coming to see me we can use hypnosis as a tool to enable you to deal with your fear or phobia in a fast and realistic manner. I use the word realistic because when people have a fear of something they often have an unrealistic expectation that after successful treatment they will be completely lacking in fear of whatever they were phobic about before.

Phobia Case Study: Wasps

I want you to think for a moment about wasps, a common subject for fear  or phobia. Anyone who has ever had to deal with wasps will tell you that the correct way to be in a situation where wasps are present is to firstly not panic and secondly to move slowly away from the wasps, because you may be stung. The nature of a wasp is that if left unchallenged it will leave you alone. If challenged it will sting; at no point are people talking about loving wasps and starting a wasp rescue service. So believing that after receiving therapy you will then have no fear of wasps at all is unrealistic. You will have a healthy respect for them and deal appropriately with the situation in the way I described.
